Noscript slowing down Firefox

Sometime in the last couple weeks I noticed that Firefox is taking a significantly longer time to load most web pages than previously and Firefox is using a lot of CPU, about 25%, while the page is loading. Clicking on the Noscript icon to see what is being blocked is also slow, sometimes can take a minute. When I disable Noscript the speed returns to normal. I am on version 10.1.6.5 . Has something changed with Noscript? Any suggestions for fixing the problem? I really like the function of Noscript and would hate to loose it.
Thanks,
Dennis

Does this depend which website you're on when you click the NoScript icon?
If so, do you have an example URL where it consistently takes one minute?

It seems to be random which web site is slow. I didn't mention in the first post that sometimes Noscript totally hangs up when I click on the icon to see what is blocked. When I click on the icon, it will display a small white conversation box forever. I have to cycle Firefox to get Noscript running again.
This is the last web site that seemed to trigger this behavior in Noscript

I unfortunately have also come to report this issue, though I have no examples of sites that trigger it, it seems to be random.

When it happens, I'll notice no pages load on Firefox (that little ball moves back and forth in the corner of the tab as it waits to connect), and in Task Manager there is a single Firefox process (of the many in the dropdown) using about 40% of my CPU and about 1GB of RAM. When I kill that process, all the pages immediately load, but NoScript stops working, so it is clearly the extension that is the issue.

Please let me know if there's any diagnostics that would help if I ran them next time this happens! It's been a daily occurrence for what seems like weeks now.

I don't reproduce the problem with NoScript 10.1.7rc2, Firefox 58.0.2, new profile.

Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons in NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, it's not a NoScript issue... try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.

Let us know, thanks.

Will do! I've got a new profile and the development build of NoScript going right now. I'll give it a few days to see if the issue arises again.

Thanks for the quick response!

Hi barbaz,

Just experienced an instance of the issue with a new Firefox profile and no addons other than the latest development version of NoScript. The only things changed were that I added a few domains to the whitelist, which I needed for browsing. Killing what seems to be the extension thread for Firefox freed my browser back up.

Please let me know if there's any data gathering I can do for you, or any diagnostics I should run next time this happens. :)

Thanks for testing! Hopefully Giorgio can shed some light on this.
