BUG in NoScript v10.1.5.8 ... NoScript icon disabled

Post by geek99 »

BUG in NoScript v10.1.5.8
The NoScript icon in Firefox toolbar becomes disabled (greyed out).

Here is how to reproduce the bug ...

1. Open Firefox (I am running v57.0.2)
2. One (empty) tab is shown (tab #1),
NoScript icon (in Firefox toolbar) is enabled.
3. Click the NoScript icon in Firefox toolbar.
4. The NoScript Options page is displayed,
NoScript icon is disabled.
5. Click any item in your Firefox bookmarks list
(to open it in the SAME tab #1).
6. The page that corresponds to your bookmark is opened,
NoScript icon is DISABLED.
7. Click other pages in your bookmark list (to open in the SAME tab #1).
8. Other pages open, but NoScript icon remains DISABLED.
9. Open a new (empty) tab (tab #2).
10. Click any item in your bookmark list.
11. Page opens and NoScript icon is ok.
12. Go back to tab #1 (where icon was DISABLED). Click bookmark item.
13. Page opens, but NoScript icon remains DISABLED.

It appears that any time you have the NoScript Options page open,
and you go to some other page (using the SAME tab),
the NoScript icon is DISABLED.

Can anyone else reproduce this bug?

Thanks barbaz.

I am new to this forum .... I assume that the bug will be reported to Giorgio (or must I do something else to report it)?

Posting your bug report in NoScript Development, as you have done, *is* how to report it to Giorgio.

v10 - NoScript button remains locked after leaving cfg page

Post by pal1000 »

Steps to reproduce:
- Use NoScript button to open the fly-out;
- Click on Options button;
- On same tab where NoScript Options page is open Browse to other web-page using address bar or by using bookmarks.

Outcome: NoScript button remains unresponsive on that tab until you close it and re-open it manually. Undo close tab doesn't help.

This is bad. This bug not only locks the button but also disables NoScript in the affected tab so it's a security vulnerability.

Nope, NoScript is still fully functional, so no security issue.
But its browser action icon remains disabled for that tab (at least until you close it and undo close).
(and BTW, Firefox 58 seems to be unaffected, not sure why...)
Fixing it in 10.1.6.2, thanks.
