Post by nagan »

At youtube if it is a direct browser builtin download (FG options) the file names are there. If it is thru DAP it gives a cryptic video1 ,video2 etc...

There are various "name" options (details escape me) that could help.
Some download managers are not able to be passed a "name". Perhaps DAP is one such?

flashgot.media.guessName is one. Might try toggling that value & see if DAP sees differently.
flashgot.media.forceNameHack is another.

Does not seem to work for me.Tried Orbit downloader the latest version.Though the names are saved in the comments (seen from the completed) the names of the files continue to be video1 video2 and so on...

Had you switched the flashgot.media.forceNameHack about:config preference to false?
If so, please toggle it back to true.

Unfortunately looks like Orbit fixed a "bug" which allowed the name hack to work :(
I'm not sure about what other download manager can support it.
The FNAME placeholder for custom download manager and some Linux DM definitions (WGet, cURL) do, but they've got other limitations...

Can't understand why FG>>Orbit combine would not work for Youtube alone. It works for p*** sites well. Just beats my imagination...
