Anyone else experiencing this problem?
Starting immediately after the update to 1.9.8.5, I went from NEVER having this problem to now getting it 8 times on random sites. There is no particular site, tends to be mostly https sites and nothing has changed in the configuration besides the update to latest NS, so anyone know what's going on? Giorgio?

Didn't see any such issues on my end today, SeaMonkey 1.1.17, NoScript 1.9.8.5.
https sites today: Bank of America, Baltimore Gas & Electric, Internal Revenue Service (eftps), Baltimore City Water, Capital One, Newegg, ...

No, I'm not getting anything like that, but that looks like a networking issue. This message is usually associated to the other party (i.e. the server) dropping the connection, but can also be due to (usually temporary) routing issue.
HTTPS vs HTTP can be due to the overhead of SSL, easier to cause a timeout.

Giorgio, I guess as a professional I have to concede that possibility that its a coincidence

but since I don't believe in them

its hard to discount the timing. I mean I have NEVER in the past 5 years that I can recall, gotten this message once and we have been using the same provider for coming up on 4 years, but I have been getting connection timedout as a result of the issues with NS that were resolved by using other browsers, so why I figured they might be related. But, as I said, its possible I suppose, just so much of it and so suddenly.

Especially that network diagnostics internally or externally all the way to the OC3 junction reports ZERO problems and there is no log of anything wrong. No system even or firewall events either or hardware events to explain it either, so software was the only thing. If it was predictable and reproducible on specific sites, I could test with other things but its so random that I can't.

Not that it might have anything specific to do with latest update, but have you got the still experimental and disabled by default NoScript Options|Advanced|ABE|Allow sites to push their rules checked?

No I do not and never have. I don't trust now or ever to have any sever push anything into my rules. So that has never been active and never will be honestly.
BTW: Just for the record, there was 3 more after we had the discussions in this thread and then I haven't seen anything again yet, nothing has changed setting wise, installation wise but I have been using the machine less because of other personal reasons. I will continue to keep an eye on it and let you know.
