Noscript with older Fiefox?

Post by Guest »

On an old PC I must use Firefox 48.0.2 due to CPU restrictions.
Noscript is 5.1.7
Question: is it possible to install (xpi) and use the new Noscript 10.x on this OLD Firefox? Or definitely not?

Thanks for a competent answer

NoScript 10.x requires at least Firefox 57.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Thanks, even if it makes me not happy.

Is it a standard for ALL new kind Add-ons, that they don't run on older Firefox before Quantum?

It is no standard, but Mozilla (as open as it is) is blocking all (new or revised) extensions that are not webextensions from AMO.

Well backwards capability is not always possible.
If you are using an old Firefox build, how would that know how to handle methods that were only introduced afterwards. (In this case a whole different way of doing Addons to begin with)

If I understand this correct, ANY new Add-On from AMO works together with older Firefox than FF57 Quantum. Right?
Even a local xpi-install of a new kind Add-On on an old Firefox won't work. Right?
(I could try and see what will happen 8-)

I tried the local xpi-instal of NoScript 10.1.2
As expected, it didn't work:
"Noscript could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 48.0.2" :(
