Have 5.1.2 installed, keeps telling me to install 5.1.2

For the past day or two, every time I open Firefox (56.0.1), the update page opens, says I have v5.1.1 and to update to 5.1.2. My Add-ons page shows I have 5.1.2 installed and enabled. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have a user.js or lockpref file?

Not unless Firefox does so by default. I don't code and have never looked under the hood.

It doesn't.

Please try going to NoScript Options > Notifications, and un-check "Display the release notes on updates". Does that setting stick?

I had a similar issue. One day I opened Firefox and that page showed up, saying I didn't have the latest version and suggested to upgrade to 5.1.2. However, the NoScript button had disappeared, as pointed out in https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... =7&t=23388

Because I followed the advice given there, I don't know if I would have seen the page again the next day, but you may try that if nothing else works.

Maybe you've accidentally bookmarked the 5.1.1 page (or are restoring it from Session Restore)?

Check to see what you Home Page is.

Okay, I just opened Firefox and I got the same page, but with this message:
Looks like you are running an older version (5.1.2), probably because latest version is not published on addons.mozilla.org yet.

You are strongly encouraged to
install latest stable version (5.1.3)
This is the address I see: https://noscript.net/?ver=5.1.2&prev=5.1.3

I just checked, and about:addons shows that I'm using 5.1.3, marked as legacy. I'm using Firefox 56.0 (64-bit). I don't have user.js or lockpref file.

I guess this issue happens only when NoScript is updated, but it shouldn't.

Oh, so it's not that the version pref changes aren't sticking, which is what these issues usually are. The issue here is that NoScript is getting its versions backwards when it comes to the release notes page. Never mind my other posts.

I was unable to reproduce the problem starting from a clean profile, in either Firefox 56.0.1 or SeaMonkey 2.49.1. I installed an older version of NoScript and then updated it to the latest version, and got the expected release notes page on browser restart.

Actually, it seems it's more complicated than that. Now I have NoScript 5.1.5, but the website says I'm still using 5.1.2. Is it possible there's any setting somewhere that is making this happen? Maybe it is a Firefox problem?

This is the address it shows now: https://noscript.net/?ver=5.1.2&prev=5.1.5 but as I said before, I was using 5.1.3 when I wrote my last post.
