Connection problems when downloading NoScript

The NoScript icon disappeared from my Firefox 56 toolbar, and no amount of disabling & re-enabling brought it back. This meant that I couldn't use any pages which have Javascript on them. So I decided to remove and re-install NoScript.
Removed it OK, got onto the site, clicked "install". Firefox said that it wouldn't install it by default, so I clicked "Allow". Then I got a message that there was a connection failure. This has happened 3 times, so it's not a one-off.
How do I get my NoScript back please?
I'd include a screenshot if there were a way of uploading it here!

Thanks Barbaz. I got the "Firefox is preventing you..." message, and then---- nothing. Just a blank tab. Not even a rotating arrow saying it was downloading something!

Thanks therube also. I tried disabling the Kaspersky addon, and this time got the "connection failed" message. I don't know what your comment would achieve. Do you seriously suggest that we should all remove A/V software when visiting websites? Or just when visiting NoScript? Not, I feel , a good idea

What is the exact error message you are receiving?
Are you able to download from any https: link?
This,
https://yt-dl.org/downloads/2017.10.15.1/youtube-dl.exe?
Troubleshoot the "Secure Connection Failed" error message
(
do you seriously suggest that we should all remove A/V software
Actually, yes, but that's a different matter.

The add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure
It downloaded OK. Even with Kaspersky enabled. I didn't try executing it!
That's not the error message I get.

I'll be offline now until tomorrow (UK time).

Late addition - I think I've solved it by getting it from the Mozilla site. But the user interface seems to be a bit different. Hope it's OK.
