Works for me in Firefox 56, NoScript 5.1.2rc2.
Please create a clean
profile from scratch. Install only NoScript
latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, it's likely not a NoScript issue... try
Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.
Let us know, thanks.

hmm, very weird.
So I disabled all my addons and then re-enabled them one by one (without changing any settings) to see if it caused the issue with no script enabled. Apparently that some how fixed the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience

Just one final addition and heads up. When i installed version 5.1.2rc2 into Nightly, it caused the Stylus Extension to not work. After disabling and re-enabling all of the other extensions again, everything is back to normal. Seems like installing the latest development version cause some extension problems which can be fixed by a combination of disabling, restarting, re-enabling all extensions on my end.

Same trouble with Firefox 55.0.2. After I shut down the computer and started again, NoScript disappeared from the browser. No icons on the toolbar, no NoScript entries in the context menus.
I disabled all add-ons and restarted. Then enabled NoScript — it didn't help. I created an empty profile and enabled NoScript there — it worked. I started the old profile — now it works too.
