Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Same issue here since the update - youtube is spotty right now. It'll work fine with certain types of videos, but with others it'll drop the audio. Tried to see how Video Downloadhelper would handle it and it's the same: drops the other options it'd usually have, and has a single "ADP" download for these videos, where they say audio and video tracks are separated and they ask for a converter download/license. Dunno if this helps narrow the issue down as to what type of videos were broken, I'm not a super-codey person...but anyway, back to flashgot.
The e10s fix didn't work and neither did using a previous version of flashgot, which I did the last time a firefox update broke stuff. I think it'll still work under the previous version of the browser, haven't tried that yet personally. If this can be fixed long term, thank you thank you!

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Similar problem here. Am using Firefox 54.0.1 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions), and Firefox Developer 55.0b11 (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions). Have installed FlashGot under all 4 installations. Same problem on all four: 99% of the time, I now only get .webm download options. And, 99% of the time, when I've tried downloading ALL versions of .webm, none of them have audio. I haven't tried earlier Firefox versions yet, but will.

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
FlashGotFan (not the OP) is using (for whatever reason) FF 55 - which is not (yet) a release item.
So in that respect, if something breaks there, it wouldn't be unexpected.
(I don't know where FF 54 "Developer" fits into the scheme of things.)

Reverting to FF 54 - which is the latest release version, does not lessen "security".'m going to downgrade to a earlier version of Firefox Developer

FF 54 is not "older" - it is the current Release version.I am willing to take the risk with an older browser version

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Sig is only there for nostalgic reasons.I notice you use SeaMonkey 2.0.14 (as noted in your sig)... that is an old version or is not updated?
I'm running a build of SeaMonkey 2.49.1. (Current Release is 2.46, which is dated at this point.)
Fits me. Looks & works how I want. What's the benefits of Seamonkey over FireFox?

Hi therube
I'll post a few -
These one have the issue I mentioned

This one does not (meaning I can see "Available formats" as well as the DASH formats)

Thanks
I'm having exactly the same issue, which I've noticed has started on YouTube during the past 2 weeks or so.
I've tried your suggested websites and the one that does work with the same results. No VEVO videos seem to work properly, nor offer the 'available formats' option, which is the first sign of trouble. But most other videos which worked a few months ago are now having the same issue on YT as VEVO ones - that is you can only download sound with no vision, or vice-versa. Most other websites so far seem to work OK, but DailyMotion is another video website where Flashgot has never worked.

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Seems to have to do with Google's new chunked video stream format.
Video DownloadHelper (another addon) has comparable problems.

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Can we get a response to know if this latest Google attempt to cancel the 21st Century has a workaround?

yes, I continue to have the issue on certain videos.
To Giorgio or TheRube: Any idea if any code update is being planned?
Many thanks

I can only assume that the intent is there.
That Giorgio is more concerned with NoScript, at this time.
That when he gets time, he'll update FlashGot (& also come out with a WebX version too).

You can take clip converter(http://www.clipconverter.cc/) to help you if you really need to download YouTube.

Re: Unable to download a few Youtube properly anymore
Hi,
is anyone still experiencing this issue?
Here it was fine till last week, I had to buy another pc after a robber payed us a visit.
Now the only available options on youtube are webm video & audio.
I guess some FF settings are messing with flashgot's ability to show "Available Formats".
I have tried the suggested solution "browser.tabs.remote.autostart.* about:config preferences to false" without any results.
Using FF 56.0 & Flashgot 1.5.6.14
Edit : Tried downgrading to FF 45, no luck same results. I have just checked the latest FF version for the release of Ubuntu that I was using on my previous PC and it is the same as I'm using now.
So there must be some default setting which is blocking the proper behavior of Flashgot.
Other things I tried without success :
-disabling all addons except Flashgot
-disabling hardware acceleration
-disabling Play DRM-controlled content
Any suggestions are most welcome

Seems some clips do only offer you webm - in FlashGot.
Will just have to wait for fixes.
