have to temp allow quite a bit to get in and view hotmail

Post by michelle »

Hi there!

I did search first on this topic, but don't see similar. I am sorry if I missed this problem.

On updating to ff 3.5.1 had a lot of problems. Most are okay now, and the remaining problems seem to be with noscript and only on a few sites.

I now have noscript 1.9.8 use windows vista sp1 and firefox 3.52.

With all browsing on net, I never give anything any permanent permission as regards noscript.

So everytime I go to a site, I temp allow when and what needed. Then I hit refresh and can see the text or play video etc.

I normally go to hotmail and log in and view mail etc no problem. Once I updated to ff 3.5.1 though that changed.

Now In Hotmail, when go to page, via http://www.hotmail.com I get a page of blue links, looks like about 20, see the noscript logo in upper right corner and then the page automatically goes to this below in about 3 seconds:
Windows Live ID symbol
JavaScript required to sign in
Windows Live ID requires JavaScript to sign in. This web browser either does not support JavaScript, or scripts are being blocked.
To find out whether your browser supports JavaScript, or to allow scripts, see the browser's online help.
It took me awhile to figure out how to get in, but after getting the above page, I can not refresh the link or page showing which is: https://login.live.com/jsDisabled.srf?vv=650&lc=1033

Giving it temp allow doesn't do anything as can't refresh the page.

so what I do is in noscript I temp allow live.com or temp allow all the page (quoted above.)

Then I manually type in http://www.hotmail.com because as I wrote above the link won't manually refresh/reload.

I then get the sign in screen, and get in hotmail, and I need to hit temp allow again to view mail, and as well, if I go into a folder containing mail, I also have to temp allow while in the folder and then can view mail in there.

So I used to be able to log in to hotmail via http://www.hotmail.com and get right in etc, and now need do the above steps to view mail.

I noticed others have posts about hotmail and clear click but that's not happened to me.

I do not want to give any site perm permission; I always want to temp allow where needed etc, and just wondering if nosript has stored something somewhere that I just need remove for hotmail to work properly.

In the whitelist prior to going to hotmail there is nothing in there regarding hotmail, or live etc. and once I give the temp allow it puts live.com and hotmail in the whitelist. It should never be in the whitelist and and either private browsing or running ccleaner must be what removes them from the whitelist.

I know I write in a confusing way at times so please feel free to ask for clarification on anything.

I appreciate your help in trying to resolve this problem.

By default both hotmail.com & live.com are Allowed.
Allow them & your hotmail.com link should work.

Though something happened after I tried your jsDisabled link & now I can't either hotmail nor live to load?
The page is "there", but nothing displays except for the address on the URL bar.

Code: Select all

Error: onLoad_Login is not defined
Source file: http://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=11&ct=1250036123&rver=5.5.4177.0&wp=MBI&wreply=http:%2F%2Fmail.live.com%2Fdefault.aspx&lc=1033&id=64855&mkt=en-US
Line: 1
So I think that is going to be a cookie issue? ...

Cleared cookies, but still same issue?

Though I can load, https://login.live.com/?

You've got me. You've broken my http://mail.live.com/ link?
Removed both hotmail.com & live.com from the whitelist. When I did so, I got the ...

3.17 Q: Some pages display the little NoScript icon with one or more links on its left side. I thought this could be disabled by unchecking "Show placeholder", but it's still shown... How do I make it go away?

... but then once I Allowed live.com, I was back to the "blank" page & the Error: onLoad_Login is not defined error?

Hi.

I'm so sorry that link has caused you that problem. In my post above it shows where that comes up and what I have to do when there. I had no idea clicking on it as in the post would cause problems and only posted it to show what came up after previous steps.

I've never been able to get that link functioning (when in the url area) so never had happen what you did.

When I am at that point where that link is showing in the url bar, I can not hit refresh or scroll to end of link and hit return, nor can I use the arrow and click on it to reload/refresh. (explained above in my 1st post)

When that link shows is when I have to manually erase the link and type in http://www.hotmail.com

It's an automatically generated link, and I suppose your clicking on it - it's in a different situation than I had with it.

Can you see if closing FF and running ccleaner if you have it, if that would clear the problem?

Your fix does work for me, however I never had to make permissions perm before. I guess something changed somewhere along the line.

I look forward to someone being able to help to fix the problem you are now having.

ugh.. I feel so bad that posting a problem caused another a problem.
