Why isn't my NS blocking this?

Post by aldiboronti »

OK, here's the thing. Twitter is not on my whitelist. I prefer it that way because I so rarely use it. Unthinkingly I just now clicked this link:

https://t.co/jFib0nO2RW

which took me to this page

https://twitter.com/WNFIV/status/857821 ... 52/photo/1

The page came up just fine. But that's a twitter page! Checking my permissions I see that it has allow twitter.com and allow twimg.com, just as you would expect on a page you've blocked. There are no forbids anywhere on the list and no other allows apart from the general ones.

I then checked my recently blocked list and there was t.co at the top! So to sum up if t.co is blocked, twitter is blocked and twimg is blocked how am I able to see that page with the photo from the Fyre Festival? I'm probably missing something but I just can't figure out what.

What makes you think NoScript isn't doing its job?

Slowly the light dawns. NS doesn't block Twitter, it just prevents Twitter running scripts.

Bingo. Image

If you want NoScript to totally block a site, use ABE.
