How to add rules

Post by Blueshoes »

How do I add rule set to system? I am running an Untangle UTM and when I get to a site that the Spyware filter dislikes it posts a Untangle filter page saying it denied the request. ABE won't let my server at say 192.1.1.1 show it. On a new Noscript install i allways have to allow 192.1.1.1 ( made up) to show filter page. Now I just get ABE in upper bar.

I tried to put in rule set "site 192.1.1.1 accept" but when I hit edit I go to Apples hierarchical window to highlight a program. Doesn't do me much good. I need to let pass an IP address not an application that it seems it wants me to choose. Couldn't this ruleset installer be more idiot proof or have a YOUTUBE video showing how to do it.

Choose your text editor when OS X offers you the choice; all edits to the ABE rules file are done with text editors and you will find that once you've completed your edits, ABE handles the save and close routines. All you have to know is what form your rule should take, and then to OK out of any edit dialogs.
This thread from another firewall user may be useful to confirm your choice of rule.

Unfortunately ABE is still in his infancy, so user videos are not yet out there, and a rule-adding graphical interface is still somewhere down the track.
