Temporary permissions

OK, I'm just getting used to NoScript and I realize it's going to take a little time to find my way around all its countless options. I have a question. Let's say you visit one site and you'd like to see the videos or pics there so you 'temporarily allow all this page'. You get in to seeing what you want to see, leave the page but then suddenly realize you forgot to revoke permissions so you go back and do that.

But if you forget to do that (and I'm sure I have sometimes) are all the urls you gave temporary permission to still permitted on other sites or only on the site you originally allowed them for? It worries me that I could inadvertently be leaving myself open to these scripts by forgetting I went to some site on which I gave temporary permissions and never going back there.

BTW I've been on the net since the early 90s and I have to say that NoScript is hands down the most useful addon I have ever known. And it's free! Whenever I have some spare cash, which isn't as often as I'd like these days, I shall certainly send a little NoScript's way. If there were Oscars for software-writers these guys would definitely win the big one!

This. NoScript's script blocking doesn't do per-site permissions.

Leaving yourself open in what way?

Security? - that's a non-issue. A malicious site needs just one chance to wreak its havoc, and it's game over.

Privacy? - NoScript is a security tool, not a privacy tool. That's better left to an addon designed to protect privacy, such as uBlock Origin.

Just having the scripts running? - err, then why would you ever Temp-Allow them in the first place?

... but without making it clear what precisely you're concerned about, we won't be able to help you address the concern.

Sorry, I see my question was confusing. Let me try to clarify. I go to anywhere.com. and I see that doubleclick.net and ytimg.com are blocked. I temporarily allow all this page for whatever reason. Then I leave the page without revoking permissions. Later I go to anywhereelse.com. Will doubleclick.net and ytimg.com be allowed on that page?

Yes.

Though you can use ABE in that respect.

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to know. I'm going to check out ABE although it might take me a while to learn how to use it properly.

You can also do per-site permissions using µMatrix alongside NoScript.

If you have question about the specifics of doing this with µMatrix, feel free to ask here - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20815

Thanks for the link, barbaz. It isn't easy for a newbie to navigate his way through NS but the help provided in this forum will be invaluable.
