5.0rc2 & Video [& perhaps ClearClick in particular]

A new page opens, the video thumbnail should display & says "The publisher of the video doesn't allow adblock, please disable and reload", along with an X in the middle.

Click the video.
Popup ensues.
(You may have to click the X, in particular)

The video shows, "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported".

Click the video.
Popup ensues.
(You may have to click the X, in particular)

(You have to do these two clicks in quick succession.)

No movie plays.

Expected:

After clicking the "thumbnail", the second time, you should get a NoScript placeholder.
(First click gets rid of the adblock message. Second click should give you the NoScript placeholder.)
You should then be able to center-click the place holder & the clip should open in a new tab, again with (its own) placeholder.
Left-click that placeholder & the move should play.


This is the action with NoScript 2.9 & 5.0.rc1.


Alternatively, with 5.0rc2:

Try, try again.
You may or may not eventually get the placeholder.
Disable ClearClick & you probably have a better chance?
With ClearClick enabled, sometimes a delay (in actions) may help.


You may or may not get a ClearClick message:
You may or may not get to view the movie.


This was not an issue in 2.9 nor 5.0rc1.



(Unfortunately, this being a "movie", it is not nearly as funny as the slap-stick stooges shows that were played regularly on TV.)

Like above, you may or may not get a placeholder.
If you don't, click the thumb again & again & again.
If no luck, you're out of luck.
On the off chance you do get the placeholder, center-click it to open in a tab, left click that placeholder, & the movie should play.

The NoScript XSS dialog, click the Unsafe Reload option.
Most likely it will not accomplish anything.

Movie will not play.


2.9 & 5.0rc1 will "just work".

Might not be relevant? But this is:

5.0rc2 & http://bestofyoutube.com/ appears to be ClearClick related - when you have set, 'Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too'.

(Though I didn't actually catch any ClearClick messages. But disabling ClearClick allows the videos to work.)

Maybe it is only that that is broken?

And XSS & or ClearClick just happen to be ancillary issues that may or may not turn up at the same time, & may or may not be effective in getting something to work if you have 'Apply these restrictions to whitelisted sites too' enabled?

I think this is working now with 5.0.2.
At least I can get the clips to play - which was not the case with 5.0.1.

I'll have to experiment more.

Might be some sort of behavior change?
As in there are times I'm expecting a placeholder rather then having the clip automatically playing.
Might be setting diffs between setups... not sure?
Also on the kinox.sg link, seeing some zendcdn.net that I don't recall getting?

If I'm recalling, what used to happen...

displays "thumbnail"
left click on that - used to bring up placeholder, now it seems to "just" play?
(assuming the placeholder showed up), center-click that placeholder, opens the clip "natively" in a new tab, again with a placeholder, & if you (left) clicked that placeholder, the clip would play (difference being when it played, & whether it played in "specific" player or "natively")
I'll have to experiment more.

5.0.2 looks to have resolved this.
