Help request for Gumtree

Post by Steve_G »

I can't work out how to get the small-ads site to work correctly with NoScript.

The advert listings show a table of 30 items, each with a thumbnail image. However, only the first 5 thumbnails are loaded when you first open the page. The remainder are supposed to load when you scroll down, and it's this which isn't working when NoScript is active.

"Temporarily allow all" does not help. I've also tried a number of plausible exceptions in the XSS options, but haven't come up with anything which works. The images themselves are hosted on i.ebayimg.com but I haven't been able to track down the javascript which loads them. The whole site is a huge mess of scripts and CSS and has defeated my modest debugging abilities.

The URL is https://www.gumtree.com/for-sale/uk for example.

(If I disable NoScript entirely, the site works as expected.)

I saw the same problem, initially. It worked for me after disabling uBlock Origin and Temp-Allowing a bunch of stuff, including advertiser sites. Then I couldn't reproduce the problem again. Image

I think maybe a surrogate script might need an update, but since I'm getting inconsistent results, I'm not sure how to even look into it.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

I haven't been able to reproduce your non-reproducable behaviour.
