NS stops working

Hi, I'm having a new issue with NS, but have not done any changes or updates to anything in my system. It seems to have begun for no reason.

What happens, is many sites I visit only need to temporarily allow scripts once or twice before they decide to play nice. But sometimes NS will show a script(s) is being blocked, but when I drop down the menu, there are no scripts listed to allow or even temporarily allow. The website becomes stuck in a semi-usable state with some scripts being blocked-- but NS has no idea what those scripts are, only that they are being blocked. What's weirder is that occasionally it will show a TA entry in the menu, but when I click it, nothing happens. I have NS set to reload upon permission changes, and it usually does. But when it's having this "mystery script" issue it stops reloading upon permission changes. I try Allow All and that also does nothing. The only way to make NS work normally again is to restart the browser, or if I just want the website to work right this minute, disable NS (which also requires a browser restart).

Another issue that may be related is that NS seems to constantly reset certain settings, including the automatic updates and re-entering whitelist entries I've removed. I manually check for updates for ALL my software once a week on a schedule because I do NOT want my tech doing things whenever they want behind the scenes. I have every last add-on, app, or program that I use set to "manual updates only."

So perhaps the weird "I'm blocking a script but can't/won't tell you which one" NS issue is related to the "User settings are just a suggestion" issue.

Thanks for any and all help!

I suggest you scan your system for malware if you haven't already. See General Troubleshooting Instructions #2

If it comes out clean, try Standard Diagnostic (keeping NoScript enabled).

Let us know, thanks.
