Images saved on my machine are blocked

unless NS is disabled. file:// is in my whitelist, yet images on both the internal and the external hard drives are blocked. Adding file:/// and file:///C and file:///F to the whitelist is not permitted. The tab in which they 'open' is even untitled.

I saw a post re: the same issue after having run a search w/o result and posting. Sorry abt that.
I just updated FF again, and hope that this update won't screw up my NoScript!
