Firefox Anti-Phising and ABE

Post by Fellow NoScripter »

Hi.

I've noticed that Firefox built-in Phishing and Malware protection doesn't function properly if "Enable ABE" is checked in NoScript options. The blocked page loads up without showing an anti-phishing warning. Though when you try to access that page after visiting it once, it works as intended: the warning shows up and the page is blocked. This behaviour resets with each browser restart until you disable ABE, which solves the problem.

To reproduce this issue, you can visit http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/its-a-trap.html with and without ABE.

I'm not quite sure if this is a bug or intended behaviour, nevertheless i decided to let you know.

Any thoughts?

Confirmed this behaviour with latest development version 1.9.7.8
Note that after re-enabling ABE in the same session - ie after the first link to the page produces the warning when ABE is disabled - the page itself (not the warning)is revealed again.

I'll just go and see if it's the same in Ubuntu.
EDIT: Same with 3.0.12 in 9.04, but absolutely zero warning in Shiretoko, no matter whether ABE enabled, disabled, NS enabled, disabled. XULrunner isn't working for Shiretoko - I have no clue whether this has anything to do with it.
Going now to wade through the Ubuntu and Fx forums for some ideas.

Confirming fix in XP and here.
The Shiretoko fail in 9.04 is a bug - only recently opened in launchpad so will take some time to be noticed and actioned.

For any Ubuntu user who arrives at this NS thread because they always check NS first for Fx bugs :-/
, here's the link to launchpad in the hope that you will indeed read the thread and go to launchpad to help rather than adding to this thread :-)

Phishing filter seems to work just fine in Shiretoko on XP.

Indeed - FF 3.6 from the ppa shows the same behaviour. I've just added a comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/397907 which is a duplicate of your bug report.
