[ split from viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21565 and re-titled - barbaz ]

same happens to me... no NoSCRIPT options available under drop-down.
FF44 seems to have de-activated NoScript on all pages such that permissions are all revoked globally
'temporarily allow all this page' doesnt work anymore either.
Had to switch to Explorer just to submit this note.
:(

Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NS settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons *on the very bottom* of NS Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, go back to your main profile and try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NS enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.

Let us know, thanks.

I had the same issue. the latest noscript development release noscript-2.9.0.3rc1.xpi
seems to have fixed that.. at least things look good until now.

I am having what I think is this same problem (basically, whenever I hover my mouse over the NoScript "S," I can see no scripts to enable/disable; all it shows me is "Forbid http:" no matter how many scripts I KNOW are on the page).

I went through these steps -- new profile, clean install of NS development build -- and NS worked fine. It's when I imported the settings from my main profile that it started happening again.

What does this mean, and how do I correct it?

I am not a coder, so I need the explanation in layman's terms, please.

Thank you!

Thanks, barbaz. That's EXACTLY what was going on, and it was because I updated an MS item and clicked to run the update JUST as I was noticing, "Oh, crap! Forgot to uncheck those stupid Bing and Homepage boxes!" Gotta remember to slow down. . . .

Thanks again!

You're welcome, but can you please post more details about what this Microsoft Bing thing is? I think it's a malware, and not actually from Microsoft.
(Microsoft has no reason to maul users' security. Even with Win10, which I don't use, is only privacy disaster, the only security downside I'm aware of is the "bittorrent" style system updates which can be disabled somewhere in settings.)

I was going through my add-ons and extensions a couple of days ago and discovered that MS Silverlight was not up to date. Win 7 went through the usual cycle of "download," "do you want to run this?" etc. In the midst of that, I got the usual check boxes with the option to "Make Bing your default search engine" and "Make XXX your home page."

In this particular instance, I was distracted and in a hurry and simply forgot to uncheck them. I realized it JUST as I was clicking the Finish button, so it was too late to correct. Once the update was done, I went back in and changed my defaults to my own preferences.

I can't say for certain that this is what caused the problem; I just know that the two things happened about the same time, and one of the posters in the thread you linked me to mentioned the Bing toolbar as the source of it. Coincidence does not necessarily mean causation, as they say, so it could have been something else entirely, but I DID accidentally install that stupid Bing process around the time my whitelist was changed.

Hope that helps.
