Let's say I would like to block google.com from all sites except when I want to access my gmail account or visit this forum. This is the entry I've made:

# google.com rule
Site .google.com
# the above is shortcut for google.com *.google.com
Accept from .google.com .informaction.com
Deny

Is this correct? When I visit other sites, I still get the "Forbid google.com" option in the dropdown list.

Also could someone please explain why some blocked selections appear in the Untrusted list, while others appear in the main dropdown menu as "Allow siteABC.com"? And what's the difference? Thanks.

Because ABE is totally separate from the script blocking. If you want more details please read my posts on the subject in viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21401

I have no idea why a site would "just appear" in Untrusted?

Marking a site as Untrusted means you don't want to Allow its active content, ever. There are some extra restrictions applied to Untrusted sites (e.g. by default includes always block all objects w/ placeholder - NoScript Options Embeddings > Block every object coming from a site marked as Untrusted), and it's also to reduce menu clutter by not presenting you with sites you explicitly classify as, er, Untrusted.

And if you use NoScript in a permissive mode, eg 'Temporarily allow top-level sites by default', then the Untrusted blacklist still applies.
