NOscript will not install, compatibility issue

I am the guy who reported a bad review on firefox addons page... here is what I am seeing, this is also happening on mozilla's noscript page and your website for noscript.

I cannot do a screen cap of the refusal to install as the prompt disappears fast.

It is currently impossible for me to install my fave addon I've loved for years.

2.3.6.37 is working fine for me on 41.0.1, but even on 44 alpha.

Which NoScript version are you using?
Where did you install it from?

Looks like FF 41.0.1 will give you that message if the .xpi has been invalidated (changed).
FF 41.0.0 may have mentioned something was wrong, but would still allow the install.
I might be wrong on that ...
Got me. Could have sworn I saw that, Caution: but it would allow the install.
But now I can't duplicate that, instead all I get is "incompatible" & install is not allowed.
Even dropping back to FF 40.0 gives the same results.
(And this affects NoScript, but not FTU?)
[thinking something in prefs.js... nope, turning up nothing there]

And that's weird, cause I tried a different extension (fetch_text_url_fix_version-2.0.3-sm+fx.xpi, manually corrupted) & that reported a "Caution", but still gives you the option to install.

(In each case, all I did was to make a change to install.rdf.)

Sorry for my late return reply.. This is from when I simply visit from a google search, going to firefox's site, and even from the noscript website.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /noscript/ and your own site: Box atop Firefox says,
"noscript.net
NoScript could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 41.0.1"

This would indeed be for "NoScript Security Suite 2.6.9.37
by Giorgio Maone"

it's weird, that image says "The image could not be displayed because it contains errors", but if I right click > reload image, it's displaying fine? Image

Anyway, I'm not seeing that in a clean profile in Firefox 41.0.1. Based on what therube said, try removing (not disabling) NoScript and re-installing?

(FWIW this is the SHA256 checksum of the XPI I'm getting from AMO: )

Code: Select all

SHA256(./noscript_security_suite-2.6.9.37-sm+fx+fn.xpi)= 36ca0cbffef01ff480d391bd1f6b6d627d64147650523a6e7915a5a0d555dd0f

I have removed it, and tried your suggestion: No effect.
It still will not install, still saying not compatible.

Right-click the big "Add to Firefox" button > Save link as
Does the SHA256 checksum of that file match what I've posted?

If so, try removing it again, and installing by drag&drop.

If still fails, does it install fine in a clean profile for you?

(There are a lot of suggestions for troubleshooting installation problems in the NoScript FAQ, any of that help you?)

Not even by doing a video capture / screencast of the failing install process?

I just got it to install, messed with value of Image and set it "false"... and eliminated 2 old values for older editions of firefox for compatibility checks.
But yes, got it to install. Thanks for yallz help, nonetheless.

You're welcome, glad you got it working.

It's almost certainly nothing to do with the extensions.getAddons.search.url pref (which looks to me like it's probably the URL used by the Add-ons Manager's search), surely it's when you "eliminated 2 old values for older editions of firefox for compatibility checks" that solved it.

I'm having the same issue with Firefox 41.0.1. When installed, it reported that it was incompatible with the version of NOscript I had. So I deleted that version and tried to reinstall. I followed the reinstallation instructions given on the NOscript site for problem cases. What happens is that the installation begins to load but just before completion I get an error message from Firefox that says "the add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure." I'm not having any connection problems and tried and successfully downloaded other extensions just to be sure.
