Noscript whitelist and untrusted list

Post by Paranoid User »

1. Why doesn't the whitelist support regular regression and simple widlcards? You may ask why it is useful. I would like to fine-tune the whitelist and only add some areas of the page to whielist only, as a way to further minimize the risk of infection when the good site is compromised or the hacker has injected bad codes locally to the compromised servers.

2. My whitelist is growing to be really large as time goes by. I want to add comments to some domains (as a reminder why some unclear sites are whitelisted, e.g. abc.com uses xyz.com to host some external contents too). Please add support of comments like AdBlock Plus too.

3. I would like to see a search function to search the sites added in the whitelist. :)
4. A new tab in the option or a way to list all untrusted sites I have marked would be nice. :D

1. This is a common request. If I recall correctly, it would be too slow due to Firefox technical limitations.

I'd like 2,3,and 4 too. Thank you suggesting them. Giorgio reads all these posts and considers all the suggestions.

Edit: The current workaround for 4 is described here. http://noscript.net/features#blacklist
I can view the list of untrusted sites by viewing the tail end of the exported whitelist file. The list can also be seen by viewing the noscript.untrusted about:config preference.
Advanced users: even though the untrusted sites blacklist has no listing UI of its own, you can mass-edit it either modifying the noscript.untrusted about:config preference or using the Import/Export functionality of the NoScript Options|Whitelist panel, knowing that the untrusted entries are exported under an [UNTRUSTED] header.

Well, ABP supports wildcards and regex. Wildcards are still very fast so it shouldn't be Firefox limitations but it may be pretty difficult to implement.

I look forward to them. :D

Thanks for the tip.
