[RESOLVED] https whitelist failure?

As my Seamonkey 2.33.1 does not support "https everywhere" I thought I'd try the noscript version of that function. I went to Advanced>HTTPS>Permissions and changed Never to Always. Then I started browsing. The first site I went to that didn't work was http://www.makeuseof.com/, there was no https version. OK, so I went to Advanced>HTTPS>Behavior and put *.makeuseof.com in the bottom list, but it didn't work. Only if I turn the Advanced>HTTPS>Permissions back to Never do I see the page properly. When failing, the page is served but is a mess with a big blue blob on the left. Actually i was surprised the page was served at all in the failing mode, since the https page was not available...

noscript is version 2.6.9.26

NoScript Options > Advanced > HTTPS > Permissions controls when you are able to (Temp-)Allow sites.
NoScript Options > Advanced > HTTPS > Behavior controls the HTTPS forcing feature.

You were setting one thing and adding exception to a completely different thing.

To force HTTPS everywhere and have your exception work, the way you expect, add

Code: Select all

^.*
to NoScript Options > Adavnced > HTTPS > Behavior > Force the following sites to use secure (HTTPS) connection
also put the Permissions setting back to what it was, that is not what you are looking for. Nothing to see there ;)

Thanks, that worked. I guess I need to find the "NoScript for Dummies" page.

I don't think there is one yet...

^ oh, the irony... I embedded an image on a non-secure site after telling Paul47 how to force HTTPS everywhere. oops

It's a "thumbsup" smiley

This https exercise is just making browsing miserable, with all sorts of weird errors popping up, and editing the whitelist getting tedious. The problem is not the sites I always go to, but the ones I will go to once only. I guess I am done, until I dump seamonkey for firefox and get https everywhere...

Not so fast. There are two possible things you can try:
1) Extract the HTTPS everywhere ruleset out of its XPI and dump it in NoScript
2) Try to install HTTPS Everywhere into SeaMonkey, with the help of Lemon Juice's addon converter
