[RESOLVED] NoScript unresponsive after virus/malware

I am having issues using NoScript. My computer got infected by a virus/malware. After cleaning it up, NoScript has no options on the right click menu. I go into the settings and see that whatever I got caused all of my settings to default to unchecked. When I try to check the box of the settings and save it, I have the choice of reset, okay, cancel, and the x to close the window. Only the close window and cancel boxes function. Reset does nothing, and neither does pressing okay which should save my settings and activate them. I have tried doing a fresh install of firefox, and of noscript, as well as uninstalling all of my other addons and only using NoScript. Does anyone have any advice? What other things can I try? I pretty much need NoScript to function at this point. I am running NoScript version 2.6.9.21 on the latest firefox update. I am on a 64 bit version of Windows 7. I have Microsoft security essentials and Malwarebytes. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest completely closing Firefox, back up your
profile folder to an external disk, completely uninstall Firefox opting to *remove* your personal data; then reinstall Firefox from scratch, create a new profile, then try to recover things from your old profile backup into one of the two new profiles you should now have.
Let us know how it works out or if you need help recovering any data.

It worked! Thank you! All that was needed was a completely fresh Firefox install. I did this by uninstalling firefox as normal, then typing %APPDATA% into my search box in the start menu. From there, in a folder called Roaming, I found the Mozilla folder. Once I backed up / deleted the Firefox folder, I did a new install of Firefox. Now my NoScript works as it should. I even managed to recover my bookmarks and such. As for the rest of the profile, I think I will be fine re allowing most sites. Probably good for me anyway seeing as I must have allowed something dumb to get into this situation. Hopefully someone else will find use for the work around of my mistake! Again, thank you so much for your assistance barbaz!

You're welcome, figured that if your profile is damaged by malware that a fresh start is the fastest & most certain way to get it back working again
(Who knows what weird corrupting weirdness could have happened, especially seeing as so much non-malicious 3rd-party software does enough damage to Firefox profiles...)

I am having this same issue, I have started firefox from scratch. No script still wont work. Cant add anything to whitelist, nothing in there to begin with, settings wont save. I only have No script as an extension, also have Open H264 video codec, Adobe Acrobat, shockwave flash, Silverlight and vlc plugins. Was working just the other day and now Noscript has stopped.

@Tessarel: get rid of the malware first

I ran both malwarebytes and microsoft security essentials. Then ran them both again in safe mode to make sure. did find some and got it removed. uninstalled firefox, deleted profile and started over from scratch. Still have the same issue. is it that malwarebytes just isnt getting the problem?

Try
AdwCleaner and maybe
Junk Removal Tool?

Just used both of those. The junk removal tool picked up some more, removed them. Deleted profile again, uninstalled firefox. and sad to say, no script is still not working

Malwarebytes has a beta Anti-Rootkit tool that can be effective but its cleanup is *VERY* dangerous and can bork your entire system!!!
Aside that, I'm out of further ideas, I don't use Windows.
@therube: got any other suggestions?

NoScript not showing sites

Ever since I think the last update of Firefox NoScript has been acting up on me. Whenever I try to click on the icon it doesn't show the normal list of blocked/allowed sites. My dad (Who's the techie of the house) and I have tried to google it, but nothing's come up so far. I'm not sure whether this would count as a bug or not, but it's giving me a hard time because I've had to revert to Adblock which you have to go in and block everything instead of selecting "allow this site" or "Don't allow that site."
Also, when I try to go into preferences and I select what I want shown and hit apply it doesn't go through.
Thanks!

Sort of, but not quite. I took a picture of it, but I wasn't sure how to post it on here at first so I'll just send a link to it.
