I just upgraded to the lastest version of NoScript and now I get an error when opening one of my business search sites that I go to.
The error says "This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js". I have to click OK and then am able to use the site.
I can't figure out what is causing this error in NoScript. I have tried temporarily allowing all on the main page to no avail.
If I disable NoScript, then the page loads normally.
Any suggestions?
I am running NoScript on Fire Fox 3.5.1

What version of NoScript? Try updating to development build.

Perhaps related to Flash?

The version is 1.9.6.9.
The URL is http://www.hoovers.com/free
Flash is updated and enabled in Fire Fox.
What is the development build? Is it different than the regular NoScript?

That happens once hoovers.com is Allowed.
Does not happen in 1.9.5.7.
The Flash object is not being enumerated.
Does happen in 1.9.6.8.

Does NOT happen in 1.9.6.92. Yes it does. No it doesn't. Yes it does. !?!?!?
So, there you have it. Download the latest development build & see if the issue is resolved.

Something funky going on.

Sometimes I get the Flash, or at least some of the Flash enumerated, other times not?

Lots going on in Error Console - in one particular Profile, my main SeaMonkey 2 Profile.
With that one, without doing a Reset, once I Allow hoovers.com, I get the popup warning you describe.
Can't seem to get things to work in this particular Profile.
FF35, NoScript 1.9.6.92 with a Reset, followed by Allow of hoovers.com, appears to be working properly-ish.
(The top, first Flash element is not enumerated until hoovers.com is Allowed. It does show in Blocked Objects.)
In a different SeaMonkey 2, with a Reset, also works the same as FF35.


So in your case, install the latest development build & see if it fixes things for you.


(Throughout this post, I've been through all kinds of browsers & NoScript versions, so take what I've written in that vein.)

Since you didn't get an answer to that question, the difference with the dev build is that fixes have been made and are release for you to use while we wait till it gets packaged and released formally on AMO. So this means you get access to the fixes sooner than waiting for them to be released through Fx. You can always check here: http://noscript.net/getit#devel and the link is also on the forum index.

Thanks for the answer. I updated with the development version and the error message went away...sort of. I use Adblock Plus and it seems to be working fine except on the Hoovers Page, if I try to block a specific flash ad (as I have in the past) I will get this error. So to recap...I updated with development version and UN-blocked the flash ad and everything is fine.

By the way, before I realized it was NoScript that was causing the problem, I thought it was Adblock Plus so I disabled it with no luck. So somehow, the combo of Adblock and the latest regular version of NoScript don't seem to get along very well. Hope that gets fixed.

PS Is it me or does therube have a multiple personality disorder? I appreciate his trying to help, but for the life of me, I thought I was reading an argument, being carried on, between two people in his post.

There was no constancy in what I was observing & so that is kind of how my post ended up too.

Shouldn't you get placeholders for both Flash objects when hoovers.com is NOT Allowed, Flash blocked?

One is an <OBJECT>.
One is an <EMBED>.

EMBED always shows. OBJECT only when hoovers.com is Allowed. Perhaps that is normal?

Not in my limited experience - embeds and objects both get the placeholder treatment here when domain not allowed.
For an example:

His youtubes are all EMBEDs according to the tooltips.

EDIT: and the OBJECT example I left out

For what it's worth, I get the same ok-ish results with 1.9.6.93 as your tries. No AC_Run etc dialog though. I'll look at 3.5.1 on the XP machine in a sec.

All NS defaults in a clean profile 1.9.6.93
Visit the hoovers link and a placeholder for the OBJECT, and a "get adobe flash" quasi holder up the top - no NS placeholder, so maybe the adobe placeholder is trumping any NS one in this bit of coding?

Then allow hoovers and bingo! it all plays all over the page.

No warning dialog about AC_Run etc.

Try it with forbid plugins in trusted:
No warning dialog, and the expected placeholders this time, both for OBJECT and EMBED.

Sorry, as far as I know that is a global setting.
Has the ABP forum got any ideas for you? I don't use ABP myself.
