Bizarre: site works w/all forbidden, but not w/allowed

I just found a bizarre case. This site:
http://www.kiplinger.com/slideshow/real ... index.html
seems to work much better with no scripts allowed than with scripts allowed. If I load the page as normal,
it basically displays. If I do "temporarily allow all", I then get almost nothing - mostly white with just a title.
If I then do "Revoke temp permissions", the dislpay returns.
Another page under the same domain exhibited the same behavior one time, but then stopped this weirdness
after a reload or something. I haven't quite pinned down if the behavior is truly reproducible.
This is with NS 2.6.9.10 on Firefox 31.3.0 ESR on Linux.
