Alt left-click auto download?

Hi there, I'm having a bit of trouble. I used to be able to alt-click to get pictures downloaded (whilst clicking a link to the file, or clicking the file itself.) but after having to do a complete 100% reset of firefox (don't mess with about:config if you don't know what you're doing, kids.) I can no longer download automatically. I do have the option Autostart Downloads checked, yet the popup box still shows for destination folder.
