How can I workaround this frustrating issue?
nytimes.com vs fabrik.nytimes.com
nytimes.com vs fabrik.nytimes.com
I've whitelisted "nytimes.com" in NoScript's options, yet I keep being forced to temporarily allow a wide variety of scripts associated with "fabrik.nytimes.com" (usually involving in the URL some "coreX" nomenclature, where "X" is a number that varies) in order to allow NYT webpage functions to work. However, NoScript will not allow me to include "fabrik.nytimes.com" in the whitelisting page and the "allow" button remains greyed out -- guess it thinks that the base domain is already allowed so the sub-domain is a duplicate.
How can I workaround this frustrating issue?
There are often multiple (3-6) scripting entries with different "X" numbers tagged by NoScript that I have to manually allow, but even if I permanently allow them the NYT's webpage function calls using those scriptlets can and does vary tremendously from page to page, and so a permanent acceptance action doesn't fully resolve the issue.

Note the (.) dot at the end:
I forgot what it means, though a search here for "fabrik" will probably turn it up?
(Or maybe in the Faq?)
Or, whitelist wildcard?
Code: Select all
http://core16_euw1.fabrik.nytimes.com.

Re: nytimes.com vs fabrik.nytimes.com
...maybe in the Faq...
I didn't think to search on that 'fabrik' term in the FAQ until your response, and there are ~10 entries from past forum postings which address this specific issue. Thanks!
The resolution seems to be achieved through adding that period at the end to "fabrik.nytimes.com." which allows the NS options widget to recognize it as a separate domain and enables saving that listing among the whitelist entries.
Time will tell whether that action will resolve all of the repeating issues for the nytimes website, but I'll report back on this to the forum after another few days.
