Hi guys.
I had found that NoScript causes Firefox freeze on some sites for several seconds.
I could confirm this problem for Windows XP x86 and Windows 8.1 x64 and it applies all (3) computers with Firefox + NoScript I have access to.
To check this I had disabled ALL extensions in Firefox (no problem) and then enable ONLY NoScript (problem appears).
I`m using lates Firefox with latest NoScript. The problem appears few months ago - so it is not
Looks like the problem is much less expressed in Linux, but I need some additional checks to say for sure.

In case of Win8.1 i have 8 Gb RAM and fast enough multicore CPU. When freeze begins I see no any noticeable CPU load.

Is there some workaround or solution or maybe I could give additional details. Thanks!

That page tries to load far too many images and, mostly ads.
When nothing blocks them, the CPU-intensive activity is spread across network requests so you don't notice it so much, because networking happens in a background thread.

But as if the network activity is prevented, one CPU is used in a tight loop (plus the modest overhead of the filtering activity itself) and you can "feel" the hang all at once.

In facts, you will experience the same kind of "hang feeling" with NoScript disabled if you've got Adblock (Plus) enabled.

I got the idea, but is there any way to spread this CPU load in time to make Firefox respond to the user? I prefer a longer page loading rather then total browser hang.

Example of other sites that suffers from same problem are one movie-related site and two online games. BTW, one of the games is a flash game and it`s page loads without problem, but browser hangs when I 1) run the game itself (it is blocked with flash-block until I click it) and 2) when I trying to go out of running game page to some other link on this page.

I think if you use e10s this sort of thing won't hang the browser as the site will be loading in a completely separate process. Until then... no idea

This doesn't sound like the same issue as you described earlier, unless the game is trying to load *tons* of resources that are being blocked.
Does that hang still occur if you use NoScript's Flash plugin blocking instead of FlashBlock to block the game until you're ready to play it?

I had tried e10s, thanks (never head about it before).
Looks like it improves performance slightly. Freeze time is not so long now (but still exists).
On the other hand, the site I mentioned before causes Firefox to end in infinite page loading, while no other pages displayed as well Probably this e10s is not ready yet for daily use.

This is probably what I was running into here, Microsoft Sites Slow To Load.
(Or is it? I might have to read what I actually posted before...)
