[RESOLVED] ff32/33+noscript+newtabpage->task won't shut down

first, sorry, english is not my native language

right now I'm using firefox 33.1 and noscript 2.6.9.3rc3

This Problem occured when I updated to firefox 32 (at least I think it was 32), when the new version of "new-tab"-page, which offers quick-navigation based on bookmarks/history, was released (-> about:newtab)
since then, the firefox task (in windows taskmanager) does not stop when I close firefox ...
when I try to open firefox (after I have closed it the usual way clicking the X button), I get an error-message: Firefox is already running

to be more exactly .. if I just open websites, everything works like it's supposed to, firefox shuts down correctly
... but if I open a new empty tab, which shows this new "quick navigation", the problem occurs
when I set this "new-tab" page to empty (there are options for advanced, classic and empty), everything works correctly, advanced and classic won't work

earlier versions of firefox (like 30, for example), which already had this feature, worked fine .. back then, there were only 9 little windows, which couldt be assigned to bookmarks ..
with firefox 32 (at least I think it was 32), this feature was improved/changed, it now showed 12 websites (and I think firefox kind of collects some data on this feature, something like the arrangement)

I deactivated all my addons and plug-ins an enabled one by one ... it's definitely no-script which causes the issue
I tried using no-script release version (2.6.9.3 and the version before) and also 2.6.9.3rc3 ... still the same problem

I think I narrowed it down a little bit, may somebody has got a clue, how I can solve this problem
maybe it is possible for no-script to ignore this "new-tab" "quick-navigation" page or something
adding about:newtab to whitelist doesn't work
...

for now as a workaround I made a small .bat file, which kills the firefox.exe *32 task (I'm using win7 64 bit)

I hope, my problem/english is understandable ^^thank you in advance :)

Does that tab need to remain open while Quitting FF or does it only need to have opened at some point during the browsing session?

As a test, create a new, clean Profile.
Install only NoScript.
Can you repeat the hang?

What Plugins do you have?
Anything A/V related or similar?
And if you disable those, does the problem persist?

(I am unable to reproduce & except for Thrawn, below, don't recall any similar mention.)

Actually I think my wife may be hitting this; she has been encountering problems lately with Firefox claiming to be already running, on Windows 8 :s.

I haven't seen any sign of trouble on Ubuntu though.

-- SOLVED --

@barbaz
because this would mean I couldn't get any future update, as long as I could not fix the error in my personal setup, but still thanks for response

@therube
on your advice I created a new clean profile with only noscript -> I couldn't reproduce the error
... so I went the simple way, exportet my bookmarks, set up a new profile, personalized it exact the same way (exact same user-interface, behavior, addons, plugins etc) ... and it still works, the error does not occur xD

I don't now what went wrong when I updated to firefox 32 ... but to be honest, I don't realy care ... Thanks again, your effort brought the hint, which led me to a solution
