Noscript and locked elements

In the last week noscript seems to have lost all functionality and completely closed up everything.
Before when I went to a page, flash elements were locked away behind a NS element that I have to click to activate.
Now, when I click the element it just opens the blocked flash in a new window behind the same element lock. Clicking on that does the same thing in an infinite loop.
Turning off NS still keeps NS active and this problem occurring. Whitelist no longer works and the only way to view a site like youtube is to uninstall NS completely.
Have tried reinstalling and a new profile to no avail.

try a clean reinstall of firefox
(select to remove all your personalized data - backup your current profile first)

Already tried that but it seems to be a problem with NS itself and not FF.

what NS version?
what if you use blocked objects submenu?
check your firefox settings for links & make sure they aren't set to always load in a new tab?

And no, the only thing that has changed is NS.
Wish I could downgrade.

URL where it happens?
Are you sure it is Flash & not HTML5?
(HTML5 may act as you say if you have not unblocked it from Blocked Objects menu.)

Downgrading worked. now if only it wouldnt auto update (box was already unmarked but everytime I start a new ff window it updates.)
And yes, sure it was with flash. Knew what I was trying to play, games and yt videos and plus if had the red slanted f for flash on the yellow blocked element box.

that's not supposed to happen!
you can try Tools -> Add-ons Manager -> NoScript -> More -> set Automatic Updates to Off
