NoScript 1.9.5 And Firefox 3.5.1

Post by Littlebits »

I experienced so many problems with NoScript 1.9.5 on Firefox 3.5.1. It took me awhile to find out what was causing the problems.
After uninstalling Firefox twice deleting everything including extensions, themes, profile folder and adding each extension back one at a time,
I found out it was NoScript 1.9.5 that was the problem. After deleting that version and going back to NoScript 1.9.3.3, everything starting working right again.

Here is a list of some of the issues:
1.Extremely slow browsing on some sites even when they are in the safe list.
2.On some sites, you get page failed to load errors, even though the same sites will load fine with other browsers and with NoScript disabled.
3.Right click menu missing on some websites including my own website, you can not open in new tab, copy or paste. All of these site are in the safe list.

Thanks. :D

1. URLs where this happens?
2. URLs where this happens?
3. URLs where this happens? And it is the entire right-click menu, not solely the NoScript right-click?

Does Error Console show anything of note when this happens?

If you disable ABE, do the problems subside?
If you upgrade to the latest development build (& with ABE enabled), do the problem subside?

Too many urls to list, in almost every site had some kind of issue especially sites with media and board forums.
Also to add on some forums, I couldn't type this was also an issue on Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Windows Live Mail.
I could restart Firefox and then I could type again for awhile then the issues would resurface, no right click and no typing, page loading errors and extremely slow browsing.

Even the right click was missing on this forum when I was going to post. It is the complete right click menu that is missing, not just the NoScript.
However all of my system's right click menu worked just fine, like right click on my desktop or files in Windows Explorer all worked except the right click on Firefox.

I didn't check the error console maybe I should have.

Yes when ABE was disabled or Firefox was in safe mode all of the issues went away.

I didn't try the development build, after I went back to NoScript 1.9.3.3 everything was working ok because I just left it alone.

Thanks. :D

I don't want to sound like a jerk but nothing of what you said makes sense or even remotely involves NoScript but when you say disabling ABE fixes everything, do you have any rules of your own added to it? or are you using the default set? Perhaps things are not working because of some poorly written rule, otherwise possibly a conflict with another extension or a corrupt profile.

BTW, could you check if your problems persist with NoScript 1.9.6 and ABE enabled?
If they do, could you try Standard Diagnostic? Almost surely it's a conflict with another extension of yours.

I'm sorry that you don't understand, I made my post as plain and as simple as I can.
If there is a certain part that is confusing you please point that out.

The rules list that I'm am using is the exact same as the rule list that I'm using for NoScript 1.9.3.3, so it is definitely not a poorly written rule. Anyway the rule list are at their default set since I deleted the complete Firefox folders including the profiles and reinstalled everything. I have completely ruled out the possibility of another extension, since NoScript was the ONLY extension installed while I had these issues.

To make it plain and simple, there is some of an issue between Firefox 3.5.1 and NoScript 1.9.5. Because I had the same exact problem on my new computer that I just bought that never had Firefox installed on it before.

On my main system, I have two OS with dual boot, Windows XP and Windows 7 beta. I had to resort back to NoScript 1.9.3.3 on Windows 7 also because it had the same exact problems.

Because since this same problem has occurred on three of my systems, I highly doubt that it has anything to do with my settings, etc.

NoScript 1.9.3.3 works excellent with all of my settings extensions, etc. on all three of my systems.

Thanks. :D

All issues appear to be resolved with NoScript 1.9.6.2.

Everything is back to normal, thanks to everyone. :D
