If Cascade, then 3rd Party Scripts Don't Show

Post by therube »

If Cascade, then 3rd Party Scripts Don't Show.

Should that be?

Set: Advanced | Untrusted -> Forbid META redirections
URL: http://vk.com/

vk.com shows vk.com & vk.me
Allow vk.com, vk.me still shows

Revoke permissions

Set: Cascade to enabled

vk.com only shows vk.com
(it takes a really long time, relatively, until the page has "loaded")

The only domain that shows is vk.com.
From what I can tell, vk.me does not show & is not Allowed?

Edit:

I see, vk.me is Allowed, though does not show up in the Whitelist, only under Untrusted.

I suppose that's the intended behavior, but ehhh.
You'd have to look under Untrusted to see what all is actually Allowed?

I guess it's safer to use Cascade over Allow Globally.
Much better, it's looking like.

And the Cascaded Allow's only apply when run under the initially Allowed domain, so when run elsewhere, they are still blocked. Is that correct?

(This might not be so bad after all.)

To be really useful, on a semi-permanent basis, as a replacement for Allow Globally, I'd think you would want an Allow Cascade option in Appearance (so you could enable/disable by context menu/icon).

And some sort of icon change, perhaps, to reflect Cascade (so you don't inadvertently forget you've enabled it)?

Just how far does it Cascade?
Only to those domains that show ...

No, that mustn't be it.
It must Cascade until there is no more, correct?

"Revoking" Cascade does not invoke a Refresh.
(Pondering that...)

Likewise, an automatic reset option (about:config, noscript.tempCascade) on browser restart.

This is the authoritative explanation which answers pretty much all your questions, I hope.
