All-round Flash downloader for Chrome?

I really like FlashGot on Firefox. Do download HTML5. However I am not willing to install Flash system-wide. So it's like Catch 22? As the FlashGot name implies.

I have found only partial solutions like http://en.savefrom.net/ and the various extensions in the Chrome web store but the whole selection of Chrome extensions have a junk feel to. I don't know.

Task: I just want to be able to download the 5 minute samples on audible.com . On a machine where Flash is installed it works like charm via FlashGot. They are plain MP3s, by the way.

What's the solution? I was unable to locate the one needed for the job in the Chrome store.

Should have posted this in the security thread? Hello forum!

I also Googled to something similar but could not find.

FlashGot doesn't install nor depends on Adobe Flash.

Giorgio,

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but here is another one:

http://kimgarst.com/twitter-muscle/
"Error loading player: No playable sources found"

This is obviously Flash. Downloads via Chrome when Flash is not installed system-wide.

What is your view on the original issue? It's still interesting, though. Thanks.

I don't follow you. FlashGot has nothing to do with loading a player in your browser. It's just about downloading the media files. Which is unrelated to the presence of Flash (which could play those files) on your system.

Then maybe it's not a FlashGot issue but here is the question:

What is the simplest way to download the above video ( http://kimgarst.com/twitter-muscle/ ) with or without Firefox or FlashGot; the easiest way if I do not have Adobe Flash installed on my system; step by step? As you would explain it to a non-techie. (With Flash installed it is just a single click on Firefox - default downloader)

OK, maybe it's not a FlashGot issue then, but somewhere somehow I have to ask; right?

How does that work?
Is Chrome's built-in Flash also disabled?

> with FlashGot

When the clip starts to play, FlashGot Media detects the clip, click the icon & it will download.

> without FlashGot

View the page source.
Search for "flv" or "mp4" or ?
You will find a link for: https://s3.amazonaws.com/TwitterMuscle/ ... sVideo.flv
That happens to be the wanted link & happens to be directly downloadable.

> without Flash

Try the without FlashGot method & see if that works.

@therube

I understand that you may have achieved what I wanted to achieve; though I do not get the steps, step by step, how I can achieve this as well.

My setup: I have stock Chrome browser with Flash enabled (and no other alterations) and stock Firefox browser with the FlashGot add-on (and no other alterations) and no system-wide Flash.

Thank you.

To update this:

I need ANY downloader for Chrome (Flash or no Flash; it doesn't matter) more similar to FlashGot in Firefox.

The main requirement is, if I need to log in to a membership site, I will be able to download the media when logged in.

en.savefrom.net is OK for most cases (such as YouTube), however it does not do the trick when I need to log in. Any tips?

It seems we are back in the old game: me as a - now older - member, constantly get caught in the spam filter :((

Thanks

Don't know why you're getting a "404-like image"?

Maybe cookie issue or something like that?

FlashGot sees the clip fine & downloads it fine?
