clicking on malicious links

Why is it better to copy-and-paste a link than to merely click on it, as I have read some say?

I don't know that's necessarily the case but maybe they're thinking because you can strip referer information that way?

Heard the same thing.
referrer points back to you, just like a ping request.
saw it referenced on a Tor routing story, from folks that were trying to hide.

It's not just about privacy. If you happened to allow JavaScript, then a page could alter the link target as you click on it.
Actually, the best option is probably to select the link text (by clicking and dragging) and paste that.
