NoScript options window always on top

Hello.
I don't know which value in which preference name to change.So I don't want to mess things up.
In about:config how do I stop the noscript options window from always being on top of firefox?

I just verified that with a clean profile with only NS latest development build, the NS Options window isn't stuck on top in Fx 11.0.

(Oh, but OP is on Win XP while I was on Linux.)

i got 2.6.4.1 but I should update to the new one.Honestly I don't think it's a problem because I remember doing it on previous versions.
I don't think it matters if it's XP or Linux.It's just a simple ui feature in ns!?

I did it on Fx8 9 and 10.So it should work!?
I wanted 3.6.28 but it was lacking some features.So I went with 11.There's no 'real' difference between them.
I really don't want to update to the newer versions because they are a mess.

Well depending on what you're saying...

The Options dialog is Modal so it may (appear to) remain "in front of" the browser window (but that is not exactly "always on top").


"11" is funny. My FF Profile is named "FF11" as that's where things happened to be at at some point in time (probably when I installed FF11) & it has stuck ever since.

Even without changing anything in about:config if you click on Fx itself.The options window just goes out of focus but remains on top of Fx.
Yes Fx11 was good for it's time and was equivalent to Fx3.6.28.Like better Add-Ons compatibility and a couple of extra features.
That's why so many people still use it.At least I do.

yeah, the non-modal options dialog was introduced in noscript 2.6.8.13.
You really should keep noscript up-to-date (if you don't mind frequent updates, you'll want latest development build).

I'm sorry for the late reply.
Let me explain my situation:
I'm traveling wright now.So I took an old copy of XP with me.I just didn't want to deal with that Win. 8 tiled monstrosity.
I also took a usb flash drive with me that had Fx11 and ns 2.6.4.1 from my last business trip.It's just what I had saved
before my last trip.
Back home I have ns 2.6.8.19.
I'm against automatic updates but that is a separate issue that we are not going to get into.
I always keep my ns up to date manually.
I was just trying to get all my preferences perfectly before updating to 2.6.8.20.(Which is about due.)

Anyway...looks like you and therube were wright.Linux does make a difference but I think it has to do more with Linux's info structure.(Not really important but worth making a personal note about it.)
There was a weird/temporary bug during the upgrade but not serious.
Everything looks and behaves perfectly.Except:the options window has changed from a square shape to a rectangle.This has
significantly reduced the white list's realstate/field.
Why can't we drag the bottom-right corner of the options window to resize it?
I should ask Giorgio for a feature request like that!?

Works in Linux, but you don't get any extra vertical real estate for the options. Can't resize it here on OS X
I agree that Options window should be resizable, but I haven't had to do that yet...

There isn't one, just update NS and the Options window shouldn't be stuck on top.

It would be nice if ns could remember that bar's last position.

I think there should be a way to control it from about:config but I can live without it.

Done, but *only* because I agree with you that's a possibly useful feature. Really, you should be registering here and posting your own improvement suggestions in NoScript Development forum yourself.
(There are a lot of other more important issues floating around, so it may be a while before Giorgio gets to this regardless of who asks.)

Well, it does sort of stick sometimes - but only sometimes. I think that for me, part of the problem might be something in my main profile, but even in a clean profile I'm unable to shrink the rulesets list below default size and have it persist.

EDIT After disabling and re-enabling some other extensions, I'm getting the same results in my main profile and a clean profile.

You are wright.I probably should register.I had some ABE rules improvements written down somewhere.
I know there are a lot of other issues.So I know better than to wait for this RFE in the next update.(No hurry.)

Don't bother!It has nothing to do with a clean profile or other extensions/add-ons.
As far as I can tell:there's nothing in ns that controls/remembers that bar's position.That's why it keeps resetting.
It has always been this way for over 3 years that I had been using ns.

Actually Giorgio tends to listen to good ideas from pretty much anyone. If there's a reason that someone won't work, he'll say so.
