OS: Linux Mint 13 MATE Edition
Firefox 26.0 with FlashGot 1.5.5.96

I run a video on YT and the FG icon appears, so I right-click and select an .MP4 format and download it.
NOTE: I don't go into the DASH choices yet, cause I don't know what to do with separate video and audio--how to play them together at the same time.

I download my .MP4 and then when I play it, all I get is the video, no audio.

I tried left clicking on the FG icon, leaving every format in the list checked, and clicingk OK to download. When it's done, all I get is 1 medium MP4 and a text file. The MP4 shows the video but the audio is missing. The other file is not a media file, so I delete it.

FG has been working fine until recently. What is going on?! I have a slow connection and need to watch the videos off-line as they're too choppy to tolerate listening to online.

Please notice also that highest resolution formats are all DASH, even if shown in the "regular" menu as well.

Giorgio, using the regular menu, all I get is a video file with no sound.

Using the DASH menu, I was able to save the MP4 Audio format and got filenames with leading dashes and no extension after the filename.
e.g. "_mediumThe_Byrds_All_I_Really_Want_To_Do_With_Lyrics"
SMPlayer was able to play that file.

At least I can hear the audio. For Jazz songs, being able to see and hear the video (watch what the player(s) are doing while figuring out the chords, harmonies, melody, etc.) the way it plays on YT is most useful.

Under "Available formats" select "Medium video/webm".

At least I can capture and play medium res now.

It opened Firefox to play the .webm. If its streaming it from the web, then I'm curious how it played much better that way than in YT.

Neither have "video" per se.
So it's not like there's anything to "watch".

The Byrds... non-Dash, mp4 (5 MB) downloaded & played (including audio) just fine?
