NS bottom tool bar has disappeared

I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to my question. My apologies if I missed it.
I installed NS just about 10 days ago. It was working like a charm. then suddenly the bottom tool bar stopped appearing. The "Please message at the bottom" option is still checked, and I can use the icon in the top tool bar, but there is no longer a bottom tool bar. Any suggestions?
