NoScript won't work after upgrade to SeaMonkey 1.1.17

Help!

I just downloaded and installed SeaMonkey 1.1.17, and installed it in the same directory as 1.1.16 (which I removed via Add/Remove Programs), and when I started the browser it said that NoScript cannot run, and to reinstall it. I went to noscript.net/getit, and reinstalled it, and it still won't work, so (as Giorgio once instructed me before) I removed the noscript.jar file from my profile's chrome directory, started SeaMonkey, and dragged and dropped the .xpi file onto SeaMonkey, which showed a successful installation (in the profile dir), but I still have NO noscipt icon in my bottom status bar. I even rebooted, and re-did the .jar file removal and re-installation again after the reboot, but to no avail! What's going on?

I just installed SeaMonkey 1.1.17 and was having the same problem. I installed the latest development build and it seems to be working now. Thanks!

I've encountered a serious problem with NoScript 1.9.4.9 and SeaMonkey 1.1.17. The location bar (address bar) doesn't work properly. You can select items from the location bar that already exist in your history. But if you type in a new URL and press Enter, nothing happens.

In the minor annoyance category is the fact that the "About NoScript" and "Options" appear at the top *and* the bottom of the "S" menu.

(He says he's already at 1.9.4.9.)

@alpha128, if you would reply to the same questions posed in this thread, Press enter in location bar broken in Seamonkey.

I installed the latest dev version, and restarted SeaMonkey.
Upon restarting SeaMonkey, it said something like "found an old version, you need to restart", so I closed it and restarted again, and now NS is working fine.

THANKS!

And just what are your problems?

There are at least 3 problems:

1. when entering a URL into the location bar and hitting enter does nothing.
2. loading a local URL like file:///C:/Programme/directory-xy/indexd.htm gives only a error message:
Die Datei /content/reloaded.html?url=C:\Programme\...\indexd.htm konnte nicht gefunden werden. Bitte überprüfen Sie die Adresse und versuchen Sie es nochmals.
3. There are double entries in the menu by clicking on the icon in the corner right below: for example "Über Noscript" and "Einstellungen".

I installed an older version of noscript (version 1.9.3.3 that formely properly works), but it gives me the same problems.

I dont know what to do?

Best regads jk

Search for noscript.jar & note where it turns up.
If it is in both your Profile /chrome/ & also in the SeaMonkey install directory /chrome/, that could be bad.

Have both 1.9.3.3 & 1.9.5 on hand.

As a test, create a new Profile. Install 1.9.3.3 into that new Profile.
See if the problems persist.

I'll assume that the problem will not persist, so then thinking that there is some sort of corruption in your existing Profile.

There are any number of "temporary-ish" files that may have corruption problems. Generally you would delete them & on restart, they recreate themselves. (Don't ask me which?)

Could also be general extension related.

So you could try something like ...

Exit SeaMonkey.
Rename Profile/chrome/ to Profile/chrome.NOT/
Restart SeaMonkey.
Reinstall your extensions.
See if the problems persist.

Oh yeah. When after restarting SeaMonkey after renaming Profile /chrome/, it is expected for SeaMonkey to be screwed up (missing menu items & the like) until you reinstall NoScript.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, noscript is now in the directory: C:\Programme\Mozilla SeaMonkey\chrome
I think, this caused the problems.

I solved the problem partially. I deinstalled noscript via the mnenhy extension and installed it again.
The problems 1. and 3. are solved.
Problem 2. remains:
"loading a local URL like file:///C:/Programme/directory-xy/indexd.htm gives an error message"
May be this is a security setting?

Many thanks and best regards. jk

Which error message, exactly?

loading a local URL like file:///C:/Programme/directory-xy/indexd.htm gives only a error message:
"Die Datei /content/reloaded.html?url=C:\Programme\...\indexd.htm konnte nicht gefunden werden. Bitte überprüfen Sie die Adresse und versuchen Sie es nochmals."

Workaround:
Right-clicking on a bookmark and selecting "Open in IE-Tab" works.
Clicking directly on the bookmark gives the error message above.
I think the error occurs with noscript version 1.9.5
