I cannot get noscript to allow me to use the free online virus scanner at ewido.com or housecall.trendmicro.com. I tell noscript to allow the page and when the scan starts there is an exception to java listed on the bottom of the screen. So, the scan never starts. How can I get around this? Thanks. D

Do they use ActiveX?
If so, they will never work in any Mozilla browser (thankfully).

(IMO, if you have to go the route that requires IE, then simply use IE for that purpose rather than any extension to "integrate" IE into Mozilla.)

Make sure if you are blocking active content, such as Java, Flash, etc etc, on untrusted sites, you are not applying them to trusted sites as well. I would say simply check your options.

Wouldn't it be easier, faster, use less bandwidth, and be *safer* just to install one of the several good AV programs out there, and do your own scan? They can do a boot-time scan, which is even more complete.

Or are you not using this for personal home use, and therefore would need a paid version? But shouldn't you have an AV program either way?

I find this useful in a pinch if I am away from my computer and need to do a cursory vet of a file on the go.

HouseCall 6.6 has two independent Core Engines to choose from:

1. The ActiveX Core Engine: to use this engine, please adjust here the IE browser’s Security level to Medium at least and be sure that signed ActiveX objects are enabled.
2. The Java VM Core Engine- to use this engine, please install the Java VM from www.java.com.

So #1 will not work (for Mozilla users). #2 should work if you have Java installed.
