When I was asked by pop up; do I want to use flashget or built in downloader or save file, I clicked on save file and also on "Do this every time in future"
How can I change this setting to use flashget/flashgot, please?
Thanks

If its detected on your system by FlashGot, it will show up in the options as an option that you can choose as your default downloader. Simple as that, let me know if you need a more detailed walk though.

Thanks it has been detected but when I click on detect now, it does not react....
I uninstalled flashget and flashgot and used the 173Flashget version, and now it works, THANKS...

Glad its working for you but if its detected, you can always just select it from the dropdown and make it the default.

Ooooops.... wrong language, sorry!
Well, seems I was happy a little too fast. Another day, another set-back.
Flashget is the default, yet, Firefox built-in is once again catching the downloads. How is it possible? On some websites it is possible to right-click on the download link, and then use flashget in the menu, but if the download starts automatically... schwuuuups, built-in it is!
What kind of setting, other than in options, is possible for Flashgot, so that it DOES grab EVERY download?
Why does it not do it now?

In the Firefox Options, under Applications, you should be able to find the file type and change it to 'Always Ask'.

Thank you, there is no downloads in the list, the files from that website are usually mp4, so I set those as always ask.
There is nothing there to download an test it right now, so I will let you know tomorrow....
(I like your quote, you sound like a swamy fromByron Bay or Freo?)

SORRY!
Let me re-phrase that answer to make it clear.
In that application list in Firefox Options there is no entry for downloads.
The files in question, that I usually download are mp4, so changed their application to Always ask, although it is obvious that the application is the one that is sued to play the mp3 files, which is VLC player.......
I will find out tomorrow morning if anything has changed....
Thanks, until then

Are you talking about FG catching every download? If so you just have to set the intercept option to always, that's it.

Trust me.... If it were that simple, I would not be writing. I have been using Flashget/Flashgot for many years.
IT IS SET TO ALWAYS, but it does not!

Ok, just making sure, no need to get testy
So you have "Intercept all downloads" checked under the Download tab.
Do you have "Automatic download manager detection" checked under the Privacy tab?
If NOT, check it and try again.
If YES, uncheck it and try again.
what happens?

Tried it... nothing happens.
I have now uninstalled Ff incl the profile, just kept a few things like my bookmarks and behold Flashgot was able to download immediately, the usual 3MBs. The fault must have been in the Firefox Profile, why and how, no one knows, least of all the mozilla people
So, the fault was not with Flashgot at all, I hope never once implied it was ?
I just needed to ask, because it had to be either Ff or Flashgot
I really thank all of you for your help and your patience. It is simply a bit upsetting, if you use something for years and it does exactly what you need, and then from one day to the next... it stops doing it.
Everybody have a nice sunday
