Whitelist reset

NoScript updates itself automatically, which is fine. But why do I occasionally lose all my whitelist entries when this happens?

I've heard some reports about this but never experienced it directly.
The problem always went away after a profile migration, but seems a bit drastic.
My only guess is that it can be a glitch in Firefox's Extension Manager autoupdate process or in some 3rd party extension causing preferences to be erased in the process (NoScript's whitelist is stored together with all your Firefox preferences).
