I have a problem with FF (latest version and previous versions) in that some pinned tabs will not show the thumbnail icon but only an image of a small square formed by dotted lines. Is this due to NoScript telling FF to disregard some instruction to show the icons? And if so, how can this issue be rectified?

You may want to try Standard Diagnostic.
