If this happens every time you open Firefox, rather than when you update the relevant add-on, something wrong is happening. FlashGot and NoScript, in facts, save a preference saying "I've shown the release notes for this version"
before opening the page, therefore you should see it once per version unless something else is opening it (e.g. Firefox's own startup sequence) or preferences are prevented from being saved.
First of all, please double check that those sites have not been accidentally saved in
Tools|Options|Main|Startup (notice that multiple sites might be put there separated by the pipe "|" character).
If they're there, just reset those setting to your regular startup page.
If it they were not listed there, this can be a symptom about Firefox not being able to save preferences. To check, please change one preference on that panel (e.g. "When Firefox starts" to "Show a blank page"), close the the window by hitting OK and then restart Firefox.
If after restarting Firefox the preference is not preserved (i.e. "When Firefox starts" is reverted to its previous value), you're probably having a serious issue with your
profile preventing preferences from being saved.
You should try in this order:
- To temporarily turn off any external security software (e.g. a sandbox or an antivirus) and retry to check if preferences can be saved. If they can be saved, you should tweak your security software to allow Firefox writing access to your profile.
- Otherwise, if security software is not the culprit, it might be another extension, and you may want to try Standard Diagnostic
- If everything else fails, your current profile might be corrupted, and you may need http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... ew_profile
