Youtube Automatic Detection

Code: Select all

v 1.5.5rc1
=====================================================
+ [Media] Automatic detection of alternate available
  resolutions and formats for Youtube movies
So that's kind of neat.
You don't even need to actually load a video - you can leave the page blocked in NoScript, & still get the download.

Is this a step toward matching or beating VideoDownloadHelper at its own game?

Not sure, I don't use VDH. I just found this feature useful being myself both a FlashGot and a NoScript user ;)

I find it awsome, more like the download button on Vimeo where you can see the size of all the videos and choose the more proper for you.

However, now I find it hard to identify the video being watched, so I can download it from cache while watching it.
In a video from youtube which offers hd1080, it showed me 24 links to videos. Trying to guess which one is being played, for me is very hard.

If you could add a visual clue of the video being played that would help a lot. Otherwise It will be harder to use the save from cache function, which was one of my favourites.
