I'd love to see NoScript offer a way to block those "make them interact" screens. You know - when you go to a website and they load the 1st page, but the next second the page is grayed out or otherwise disabled/blocked by something that requires the viewer to interact before he can get back to the main page. (Spending money on a site ought to be interaction enough for any merchandiser! I don't want to be nagged about signing up for spam email, too.) Here's a good example: I think of them as more effective pop-ups - cause the viewer can't ignore them. I can stop them by turning off Javascript or having NoScript block everything - but I don't necessarily want to block everything. Here is an example - it's not the best b/c it takes about 10 secs for the interfering "pop-up" to block you out, but it'll serve. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Misc/Deal-o ... 8000050016

If NoScript can't be made to kill these annoying things - does anyone know of another way to block them? Also - Please, someone tell me what these things are actually called! I used to think these were Flash-based, but lately I think they're Jquery-based - though I can't remember now how I came to that conclusion... Every time I search for a solution, I know I'm hindered by not knowing the right phrase to use.

Not sure about your example (the link got broke, please wrap it in [url] tags), but could you try pressing the right mouse button on the blocked element and using the "CANC" button at the same time?

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure about what you're telling me to do. I don't have a CANC button, so I tried holding the CTRL button with the right mouse. I can "inspect the element" that way, but there are a bunch of different ones, apparently, in the ad. I'm sure you'll know exactly what I mean as soon as you go to either, but I don't know what it's called.

OK, I can see it. They're called "in-content popups" or "HTML popups" or "popup divs".
You could block them by creating customized script surrogates to interfere with the script which creates them, but that's quite impractical for the average user.
Furthermore, I believe these are more a work for Adblock Plus than NoScript.
If public ABP lists don't block them, you can try installing the ABP Element Hiding Helper and create your own blocking filters.

Thanks very much for the info and your time. I'll pursue your idea. (I thought it would be a job for NoScript when I stumbled across something that made me think it was JQuery.) Even if I can't get around these things through NoScript or AdBlock, I now know what to call them (other than what I'm inclined to call them when they interfere with my browsing :-> That'll certainly make it easier, if I fail with AdBlock, to find out if someone else has figured out how to kill them.
