[Resolved] zero byte downloads

Post by rakuman »

I tried downloading some short video clips from a Brazilian tv website, they turned out to be 0 bytes, that does not worry me too much as I am sure it wont work everywhere, but now every time I start Firefox I get 3 zero byte files dropped on the desktop with the same names as the previously failed ones.
Firefox 18.0.1 on Macos 10.6.8
How can I stop these things being deposited?

How are these files named, exactly?
Is there any trace of them in your Firefox download manager window (CTRL+J)?
If so, could you try to clear it?

And they get recreated whenever you start Firefox?
If so, could you try disabling FlashGot from Tools|Add-ons and check whether this actually keep happening?
If not, that's probably a Firefox bug, and you may want to try deleting the downloads.sqlite file from your profile (while Firefox is not running).

Thanks for that info, I removed flash got, got rid of the downloads.sqlite, restarted firefox, freshly reinstalled flash got and the zero byte files are no longer appearing.
Many thanks to you.
