noscript version update popups

several times a month at unpredictable intervals noscript
plugin pops up a window in firefox telling me that it has
been updated to a new version or whatever, sometimes
I am directed also to what looks like a third-party site

much as I value the functions that noscript provides,
windows that pop up unprompted like this, regardless
of what important task I may be in the middle of, really really
annoy me

so, I wonder if there is an option to suppress this feature
of the software, maybe there is a premium version which
I could pay for that does not do this?

thanks for any info

No premium version needed :). You can switch this off anytime you like.

By default, NoScript takes you to noscript.net when it updates, so that you can see the list of recent changes. And as you've noticed, it updates often, because Giorgio is very efficient at fixing bugs. And yes, the noscript.net pages have advertising on them, because NoScript is free and there aren't enough donations to support Giorgio full-time (although some people do donate, which is welcome I'm sure).

However, if you open the Options dialog, select the Notifications tab, and uncheck 'Display the release notes on updates', then you shouldn't see this feature any more.

If you are on the #devel channel, that could be.
Otherwise, that would be odd for the release.

So if you don't want as frequent, make sure you're using the release.

You'd be surprised. But if you look at the version history, there's typically 3 releases each month.
