[Bug] Whitelist restrictions for Flash content on older FF

Hi,

Ever since version 2.3.8 of noscript, there seems to be a bug introduced which prevents Flash content being played if you select the paranoid option of blocking Flash and other embedded content for whitelisted sites on older Firefox browsers, 3.5 and also 3.6 I think from what I remember when I tested it a while ago.

I just tried the latest version of noscript, version 2.6.1, the same problem exists for older Firefox browsers. You unblock the flash content, but it doesn't show up, only a space exists. If you allow white listed sites to play flash content with no restrictions, it works fine.

Can this bug be fixed or is it intentional?

Looks to be working for me.

FF 3.6.28
NoScript 2.6.1

I get the placeholder.
Click placeholder & the clip plays.

Try a new, clean Profile.
Could be that you are blocking something that is now needed?

Yes, I should have clarified the problem a bit more.

It only seems to effect some websites which have Flash video player embedded, Youtube works for me also with latest noscript on FF 3.5.19, but I tried Vimeo and the problem occurs on that site. If I disable the restrictions for whitelisted sites, they all work fine with noscript versions past 2.3.7

Can you try that one? I mean the Vimeo website if that was unclear :)

Is there anything in the Blocked Objects submenu? Even if you've clicked on a placeholder, there might be other, less-visible objects.

Ok, I have done some further testing of this problem.

I installed fresh copies of FF 3.5.19 and 3.6.28.

FF 3.6.28 with noscript 2.6.1 works fine whether you choose to block embedded content for whitelisted sites or not, I tried both importing my existing profile from FF 3.5.19 and brand new profile with only noscript addon installed, no problems at all.

FF 3.5.19 however displays this bug even with a brand new profile with only noscript 2.6.1 installed on the Vimeo website if you block embedded content for whitelisted sites.

I'd suggest upgrading to at least 3.6.28, and even that is no longer supported. Is there a reason you can't upgrade?
