High CPU load with FlashGot Firefox extension

Post by Bronco »

Hi together,

I recently wondered about one of my CPU kernels running at 100% for some time and Firefox getting very slow.
By deactivating some of the extension I found that the high CPU load can only be seen when either the NoScript or FlashGot extension is activated.

OS is Win 7 64bit with FF16.02 (32bit), FlashGot 1.4.8.6 and NoScript 2.6.1

Any hints how to solve that issue?

Best regards

Does it happen when only NoScript or FlashGot are installed, with no other extensions installed?

What other extensions do you have?

Does it happen with only NoScript or FlashGot installed & your plugins disabled?

What plugins do you have?

hm, have to test that
Right now I reset firefox and now I runs fine.

Other extensions btw. AutoCopy, AdBlock Plus and Flash and Video Download
Plugins: a lot... Acrobat reader, DivX Player, Java...

Will provide a full list when the problem still exists...

Kind regards

A better option would have been to create a second profile and see what happens there. Too late now, I guess.

If you reinstall everything that you had before, and the problem doesn't come back, then maybe your profile was corrupted. If it does come back, we can investigate further.

I tried creating a new profile a month ago or so but that did not solve thhe problem.

Meanwhile it seems to me that the problem only occurs if the JDownloader (which is not set as a download manager in the FlashGot options, FDM is) is active and uses a significant portion of the bandwidth.
When this is not the case, FF runs "normal" at low CPU load.

okay, I tried to create a new profile again. And some more with activating/deactivating my plugins.
Maybe my cookies database caused some trouble, but meanwhile I also can say that neither NoScript nor FlashGot causes the high CPU load.

My preliminary result is that the high CPU load is only present if the infoRSS plugin is active, so sorry for wrongly suspecting FlahGot to be the suspect plugin. (In fact, the CPU load went down after deactivating FlashGot, but went up again after a few minutes, so that obviously was due to the restart of Firefox.)

Thanks for your hints

sorry, instead of "plugins" I should have written "add-ons" in my last post...
